Chief Census Officer pays courtesy call on the Chief Fire Officer
Members of the Census Coordinating Team and National Census Secretariat paid a courtesy call on Mr. Edwin Blankson, the Chief Fire Office, and the leadership of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS). The purpose of the courtesy call was to formally brief the GNFS hierarchy on the 2021 Population and Housing Census and solicit their support for the exercise.
Chief Census Officer, Professor Samuel Kobina Annim, provided a briefing on the census and highlighted the innovations and key activities before discussing the key areas of support required from the GNFS which include ensuring fire safety in census storage facilities across country and blowing of sirens on Census Night to make the date memorable. Mr. Blankson thanked the delegation for the visit and assured them of the support of the GNFS for the census in the requested areas and additionally agreed to provide fire safety training for census officials.
